I just discovered this web site- the company is based here in Milwaukee. It looks like they stock the motors and all the parts. This might have to be one of my next projects.....maybe. Pretty cool though- and cheap. I'm sure its all overseas parts.....

back out mountain biking
now that school is done for the summer I've been trying to get out into the woods to do as much biking as I can.
Andy and I got out to Baird's in Green Bay a few times already. We revisited the hill that wrecked him last year, so we had to take a quick picture.

the bridge over I43 north of Grafton
Tara, the kids and I have also been riding the interurban trail a lot in the last few weeks. The single speed that I converted is working great for this, and Ava is really loving the ibert seat.
pneumatic elevator
I thought this was a joke when I first heard of it- its like crawling into one of those tubes the bank tellers use. At work we are engineering a set of stairs that wraps around one of these elevators for a private residence.
Pretty crazy stuff, looking forward to seeing the project pictures when its all done.
I can't help but want to see this tube pop out of the roof of the house.
It has kind of a hamster cage aesthetic to it.
order yours today....maybe not

First round of sun shade prototypes

Thermo/Die formed plastic. Turned out very clean (except for the oops on laser cutting too many holes) Plastic will need to be thicker and opaque on the next version.

double sided CNC foam. I really liked this one because of its strong sculpted qualities and its potential to be parametrically controlled in grasshopper.

Making the die from nylon. Turns out nylon mills really well- can't wait to make the next one.

Die forming copper- with limited success.
I made the die too aggressive- the next round will be a little more subtle.
