tonight Matt, Frankie, and myself put in a few extra hours and built an enclosure for the cnc machine

just have to make some doors for it now

Some new tools

these are some new old tools i bought off of craigslist

i couldn't pass up these old milwaukee power tools- solid cast aluminum bodies

this is a vise i purchased with the tools- it is pretty cool because of the large flat surface

i need to sandblast and paint this thing- a lot of surface rust

the milwaukee drill was missing a cover plate, so i of course had to make one.  i found the milwaukee logo online already in vector format so it was no big deal.  it turned out great.

this is our first microcosm studio project-

the material I am working with is aluminum flashing

to get the "gossamer" effect I melted it with a torch over a bed of aluminum foil

the end result is a surface with a stretched appearance with regions of micro perforations.

it was a fun project....looking forward to the next one!
